SAP MDG Technical ABAP Developer

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced SAP MDG Technical ABAP Developer with strong expertise in master data governance and ABAP programming. The role involves designing complex interfaces, performing field mappings, and developing workflows and background jobs. Candidates must have at least 8 years of ABAP experience and deep knowledge of SAP MDG architecture and components. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and high-performance solutions. Strong problem-solving, communication, and debugging skills are essential for success in this role.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Verbal) Individual should be able to drive discussions with cross geography counterparts
• Build and maintain robust and scalable interfaces between SAP MDG and external systems using ABAP and relevant integration technologies (IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, Web Services).
• Perform detailed field mapping and data transformation logic to support master data governance processes across domains like Material, Vendor, Customer, etc.
• Create and customize SAP MDG workflows using BRF+ and ABAP to support approval processes, validations, and business rules.
• Develop and schedule background jobs for data replication, validations, and periodic tasks, ensuring optimal performance and error handling.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, design documents, and unit test plans in alignment with functional requirements and project standards.
• Analyze and optimize ABAP code for performance, and troubleshoot issues across MDG components including UI, data replication, and workflow.
• Work closely with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and integration teams to ensure seamless delivery of technical solutions.
• Should have knowledge on WRICEF objects and able to work on interfaces and Enhancements along with test case documents, test plan.
• Individual should have knowledge or hands-on experience on SAP S/4 and Fiori Apps.
• Candidate should have the ability to perform in a dynamically changing environment.

Requirement:

• Should have minimum 8+ years of Implementation and Support experience across different industries and sectors with at least 2 end to end implementation in SAP S/4HANA MDG (Scope, Design, Build & Test phases).
• Individual would be required to participate in Business workshops, gather business requirements & to be able to propose TO BE Processes as per best practices
• Minimum 8 Years of ABAP Development Experience Strong hands-on experience in ABAP programming including enhancements, user exits, BADI implementations, and performance tuning
• Expertise in SAP MDG Framework - Proven experience in SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) including data modeling, UI configuration, workflow setup, and data replication.
• Interface Development Skills - Proficiency in building and managing complex interfaces using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and Web Services for seamless data exchange.
• Workflow and BRF+ Knowledge - Solid understanding of workflow design and BRF+ rule configuration to support master data approval and validation processes.

Must Have in candidate:

• Should have experience in MDG Customer, Supplier, Business Partner, Finance (General Ledger, Cost center, Profit Center, Internal Orders)
• Individual Should have worked on Customer and Vendor Integration (CVI)
• SAP MDG Certification is preferred.
• Hands on experience on Data Import and Replication Framework via IDOC, webservices etc.
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in ABAP development, including custom reports, enhancements, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience in SAP MDG components such as data modeling, UI configuration (FPM), workflows, and data replication.
• Ability to design and implement complex interfaces using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and Web Services for master data integration.
• Experience in creating and customizing workflows using BRF+ and ABAP to support governance and approval processes.
• Skilled in developing, scheduling, and monitoring background jobs for data processing and system automation.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across MDG and ABAP components.
• Ability to work closely with functional teams, business users,

and other technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
