Who we are looking for

The State Street Global Privacy Office is hiring for a Data Privacy Manager in India to join our global team. The position is to be located in India and will report to the India Data Protection Officer.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements. The hybrid model is subject to change.

What you will be responsible for

As Data Privacy Manager in India your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in operationalizing the implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), including contributing to the design and execution of the privacy roadmap and embedding compliance measures across organizational functions.
  • Support the DPO in managing and responding to Data Subject Rights Requests (DSRRs) in line with regulatory timelines.
  • Support DPO in monitoring adherence to DPDPA, GDPR and other applicable privacy laws.
  • Support DPO in handling data incidents and responding to privacy queries.
  • Support the DPO in identifying and resolving compliance issues and monitor resolution plans in coordination with relevant teams to ensure accountability and policy adherence.
  • Participate in the establishment and implementation of compliance training and education programs to keep business and/or functional unit personnel appraised of compliance policies and regulatory obligations
  • Contribute to updating internal privacy policies, procedures and toolkits tailored to India specific processes.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, updates, and changes in data privacy regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and proactive risk management.
  • Support internal privacy audits to assess compliance with data protection policies and regulatory requirements and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Provide support to Global Privacy Office colleagues on matters relating to other jurisdictions as required
  • Deliver executive dashboards, reports on privacy risks and metrics.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Privacy professional with 9+ years of hands-on operational experience in privacy programs and practices.
  • Understanding of compliance control procedures, preferably IT controls in addition to operational controls
  • Ideally familiarity with the three lines of defense model, regulated environments and Information Technology Control Frameworks
  • Strong IT proficiency, in particular with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Experience in handling Data Subject Rights Requests
  • Flexible approach and a strong team player
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Must have a customer service work ethic with the ability to interact comfortably with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to collaborate and influence colleagues
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and ability to adapt to shifting priorities, meet deadlines and execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to juggle conflicting demands and prioritize effectively

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent are preferred.
