Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the end-to-end development of EV components and systems (e.g., battery enclosures, power electronics, thermal systems, and vehicle integration modules).
• Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and robust product designs.
• Perform CAD modelling, tolerance analysis, material selection, and DFMEA reviews.
• Manage prototype builds, validation testing, and design refinements based on performance and durability data.
• Coordinate with suppliers for tooling, part development, and manufacturability analysis.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of product issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, electrical, software, and manufacturing, for seamless product integration.
• Support design validation (DV) and production validation (PV) phases, including lab and vehicle-level testing.
• Ensure all designs meet regulatory, safety, cost, and quality requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including design reviews, technical reports, test plans, and release packages.
• Conduct market research to identify trends and align new product development with customer and industry requirements.
• Develop quality control criteria, safety guidelines, and ensure compliance across the team.
• Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure alignment with design specifications.
• Propose and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electric vehicle systems, automotive engineering principles, and product development lifecycle.
• CAD & CAE Proficiency: Skilled in using CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) and CAE/simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB).
• Powertrain Knowledge: Experience with electric motors, inverters, and related powertrain components.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex design challenges.
• Creativity & Innovation: Ability to conceptualise and implement novel product solutions.
• Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Project Management: Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 24 years of experience in NX Design and Development of CAD drawings (mandatory).
• Experience in EV product design and development.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DV/PV testing, and regulatory standards.
