Position Overview

The DGM will be responsible for strategic leadership of the Intellectual Property function
, overseeing IP portfolio management, patent strategy, litigation, licensing, and portfolio selection (NCE, ANDA, 505(b)(2) products). This role demands a blend of
legal, scientific, and business acumen
to guide company-wide IP strategies and ensure protection of innovations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead
    IP strategy and portfolio management
    across NCEs, ANDAs, 505(b)(2) filings, process patents, polymorphs, and solid-state chemistry.
  • Conduct and review
    freedom-to-operate (FTO), patentability, infringement, and validity analyses
    .
  • Guide product ideation and
    portfolio selection decisions
    by evaluating IP landscapes, competitor patents, and regulatory exclusivities.
  • Provide IP inputs in
    business development, licensing, and M&A transactions
    .
  • Oversee patent filing and prosecution globally (India, US, EU, emerging markets).
  • Manage
    pre-grant/post-grant oppositions
    and provide litigation support.
  • Track and report
    total patents filed, granted, opposed, and maintained
    .
  • Coach and mentor a team of IP professionals, building organizational IP capability.
  • Partner with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Portfolio teams to align IP strategy with business goals.
  • Prepare and manage IP budgets, external counsel relationships, and ensure compliance with global IP regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • M.Pharm / M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or Life Sciences.
  • 10+ years of experience in
    pharma Intellectual Property
    , with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Registered Indian Patent Agent or Law background desirable.
  • Strong expertise in
    NCE molecules, formulations, ANDA, 505(b)(2), and process patenting
    .
