Roles & Responsibilities of a PGT Biology Teacher

  1. Teaching Responsibilities

  2. Teach Biology (Botany, Zoology, Human Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, etc.) to Classes 9, 11

  3. Prepare lesson plans, presentations, and assignments as per CBSE guidelines.
  4. Use interactive teaching methods like smartboards, animations, and models for better understanding.
  5. Train students for CBSE board exams.

  6. Conduct doubt-clearing sessions and encourage critical thinking in students.

  7. Laboratory & Practical Work

  8. Organize and supervise Biology practicals, ensuring compliance with the CBSE lab manual.

  9. Teach students how to use microscopes, prepare slides, and conduct dissections (where applicable).
  10. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological specimens and chemicals.

  11. Maintain lab equipment, specimens, and safety measures.

  12. Assessment & Evaluation

  13. Prepare and evaluate tests, quizzes, assignments, and practical exams.

  14. Track student performance and provide individual feedback.

  15. Maintain student records for academic progress and assessments.

  16. Curriculum Development & Lesson Planning

  17. Stay updated with CBSE syllabus updates and new educational trends.

  18. Develop engaging and structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE guidelines.

  19. Integrate real-world applications of Biology into the syllabus.

  20. Mentoring & Career Guidance

  21. Guide students on career options in medical, paramedical, research, and biotech fields.

  22. Encourage participation in Biology Olympiads, science fairs, and research projects.

  23. Motivate students to develop scientific temperament and research skills.

  24. School Administration & Co-Curricular Activities

  25. Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development workshops.

  26. Participate in school events, seminars, and extracurricular activities.
  27. Collaborate with other faculty members for interdisciplinary learning.
  28. Maintain discipline and a positive classroom environment.
