Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Automotive Industry)

Location: Douala, Cameroon

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components for vehicles. This includes working on wiring harnesses, power distribution, sensors, ECUs (Electronic Control Units), infotainment systems, and other automotive electronics. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and vehicle performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems, circuits, and components for automotive applications.

  • Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts using tools like Altium Designer, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.

  • Perform DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) assessments.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and suppliers to integrate electrical systems into vehicle platforms.

  • Conduct simulation and testing (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) to validate electrical designs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during prototyping and production phases.

  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards such as ISO Functional Safety), AEC-Q100 (Component Reliability), and SAE J1939 (Vehicle Bus Communication).

  • Support EMC/EMI testing and ensure designs meet electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

  • Work on EV (Electric Vehicle) systems, including battery management, charging systems, and power electronics (preferred if applicable).

  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

  • Stay updated with emerging automotive technologies (e.g., ADAS, autonomous driving, V2X communication).

Qualifications & Skills

-Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in automotive electrical systems design (entry-level roles may accept fresh graduates with relevant project experience).

  • Hands-on experience with CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet automotive protocols.

  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe, CANalyzer).

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., Zuken E3, Capital Harness).

- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs.

- Understanding of high-voltage systems (for EV roles).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automotive cybersecurity and functional safety (ISO
