About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Copyeditor to join our Bengaluru office and lead efforts in editing book manuscripts at L1 - L3 editorial levels. This role involves ensuring language accuracy, consistency, and quality in complex publishing projects. The Senior Copyeditor will also play a key role in building, mentoring, and training a team of junior editors to uphold editorial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread book manuscripts ensuring grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency according to L2 and L3 standards.
  • Collaborate with authors, subject matter experts, and production teams to ensure content integrity and timely delivery.
  • Build, manage, and train a team of junior editors, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Develop and implement editorial best practices and quality standards.
  • Review references, citations, and factual content for accuracy.
  • Support the team's professional development through coaching and training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional editing experience with emphasis on book and long-form content, especially at L2 and L3 levels.
  • Proven leadership experience in building and managing editorial teams.
  • Excellent command of the English language including grammar, style, and usage.
  • Familiarity with editorial tools and content management systems is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work onsite in Bengaluru.
