SENIOR WINDER (AC & DC, LV & HV, MOTOR & ALTERNATOR)
Salary: Basic OR 175 – 200 p.m. + Adhoc Allowance 10% of basic
Job description:
Position Summary:
The Senior Motor Winder will be responsible for independently carrying out rewinding, repair, and refurbishment of AC and DC motors and Alternators (Low Voltage and High Voltage), including both stators and rotors. The role involves dismantling, winding, insulation, varnishing, assembly, and testing of motors to ensure compliance with international standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform independent rewinding of AC & DC motors and Alternator (LV & HV) for both stators and rotors.
Diagnosing the winding faults and carry out root cause failure analysis (RCFA) where applicable.
Carry out dismantling, measurements, winding data collection, coil removal, winding preparation, insulation, and rewinding according to drawings and specifications.
Conduct varnishing, baking, and curing of windings ensuring quality insulation and longevity.
Assemble, align, and balance repaired rotors and stators after completion of winding works.
Perform electrical testing (resistance, insulation resistance, surge test, hipot, tan-delta, etc.) before and after rewinding.
Ensure all repair work complies with EASA / IEC/IEC Ex / IEEE standards and company quality procedures.
Supervise and guide junior technicians in motor rewinding processes.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop cleanliness in accordance with HSE requirements.
Prepare work reports, job cards, and maintain records of winding jobs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma / ITI / Trade Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
Minimum 8–10 years' experience in motor rewinding and repair (including HV motors).
Strong knowledge of AC & DC motor principles, insulation systems, and rewinding techniques.
Proven ability to carry out independent rewinding jobs without supervision.
Experience in varnishing, baking, and electrical testing of motors.
Familiarity with test instruments (megger, surge tester, hi-pot tester, CNC/computer operating etc.).
Knowledge of international standards (EASA / IEC/IEC Ex / IEEE) will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding ability.
Excellent hands-on technical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and winding data sheets.
Team leadership and ability to train junior winders.
Commitment to quality and safety standards.
