Principal Product Applications Engineer
About The Role
As a Principal Product Applications Engineer at Analog Devices (ADI), you will serve as a recognized technical expert, leading the creation of sophisticated tools that assist customers in integrating ADI products into their designs. You will develop and apply comprehensive system-level understanding across application segments to provide innovative, practical, and timely solutions to complex customer issues. In this principal role, you will lead cross-disciplinary teams to bring new products to market efficiently, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a technical authority for strategic customers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Technical Leadership: Serve as a recognized technical authority across the organization, applying advanced principles and concepts to drive innovation while mentoring engineering teams
• System Architecture Expertise: Develop and apply comprehensive system-level understanding to optimize product integration in complex customer environments and influence future product development
• Advanced Customer Solution Development: Lead the creation of sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that demonstrate product capabilities and solve complex integration challenges
• Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Drive collaboration across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to accelerate product development and market introduction
• Complex Problem Resolution: Apply deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated and unprecedented technical challenges for strategic customers
• Comprehensive Product Validation: Design advanced testing methodologies to validate product specifications, define operational boundaries, and ensure reliable performance across diverse application environments
• Strategic Competitive Intelligence: Lead in-depth analysis of competitor products, create detailed comparison methodologies, and provide strategic insights to maintain ADI's competitive advantage
• Technical Knowledge Dissemination: Create and deliver advanced technical documentation and training to share expertise throughout the organization and customer base

Must Have Skills

• System Architecture Mastery: Expert proficiency in system-level design with the ability to optimize complex integrated solutions across multiple components and subsystems for maximum performance
• Advanced Application Development: Demonstrated ability to lead the development of sophisticated application tools, reference boards, and software that effectively showcase product capabilities and solve complex customer challenges
• Strategic Cross-Disciplinary Leadership: Proven record of building consensus across engineering, marketing, and sales organizations to achieve critical business objectives and successfully bring products to market
• Advanced Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical abilities with demonstrated success resolving complex technical challenges using innovative approaches and deep domain knowledge
• Comprehensive Product Validation: Expert understanding of validation methodologies to thoroughly test specifications, define operational limits, and ensure product reliability in diverse application environments
• Deep Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor products and their applications, with recognized expertise in specific product lines or technology domains
• Strategic Competitor Analysis: Advanced ability to evaluate competing products and technologies, identifying strategic advantages and providing actionable insights to maintain market leadership
• Technical Communication Leadership: Superior ability to articulate complex technical concepts through documentation, presentations, and direct customer engagement with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Market Qualification Expertise: Thorough knowledge of qualification testing requirements for specialized markets, with ability to develop appropriate testing strategies

Preferred Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's or Doctorate preferred
• Typically 10+ years of relevant experience in product applications engineering, customer technical support, or related roles
• Less experience may be acceptable with relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications
