About the Role:

The Medical Gas Plant Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the medical gas generation and distribution systems within a hospital or healthcare facility. The role ensures uninterrupted supply of medical gases (O2, N2O, Air, Vacuum, etc.) in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS), including oxygen generation plants, compressors, vacuum pumps, and manifolds.
  • Monitor gas pressure, flow, and quality parameters to ensure smooth system performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of all plant equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, perform troubleshooting, and coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and records for system operation, maintenance, and cylinder refilling.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety regulations and statutory norms (e.g., NABH, HTM standards).
  • Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of new medical gas systems.
  • Liaise with hospital engineering, biomedical, and safety departments to ensure continuous operations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of medical gas plant equipment (oxygen concentrators, compressors, vacuum pumps, air dryers).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Awareness of healthcare safety standards and emergency protocols.
  • Attention to detail with good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in shifts and handle pressure situations calmly.
