Job DescriptionOverview

AtkinsRéalis GTC (Global Technology Centre) is hiring a Bentley OBD Admin – Technical Manager to support the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary designs within the Nuclear, Industrial, and M&M sectors. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of designers, provide technical direction and managing cross-discipline design coordination.

This key post will be based out of Mumbai / Bangalore / Gurugram where we have thriving AtkinsRéalis offices, which serve all AtkinsRéalis regions across the world.  Your role

Responsibilities: 

  • Install and configure OpenBuildings Designer across user systems and servers.
  • Set up and manage Work Sets and Workspaces for consistent project environments.
  • Customize Data Group System for project-specific data requirements.
  • Develop and maintain company BIM standards within OBD.
  • Manage user roles and permissions within the OBD environment.
  • Coordinate with IT for hardware, network, and storage requirements.
  • Integrate OBD with ProjectWise for document and model management.
  • Create and maintain drawing seeds, annotation cells, and templates.
  • Support multi-discipline collaboration (architecture, structural, MEP).
  • Configure and manage compound cells and parametric components.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 19650, COBie).
  • Train users on OBD tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and resolve user issues efficiently.
  • Monitor software performance and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Apply updates, patches, and service packs to maintain software health.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using VBA, Python, or Generative Components.
  • Document configuration changes and maintain version control.
  • Coordinate with Bentley support for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Manage backups and recovery plans for project data.
  • Support federated model coordination and clash detection workflows.
  • Validate data integrity across disciplines and models.
  • Participate in BIM execution planning and project setup.
  • Support IFC export/import workflows for interoperability.
  • Ensure alignment with client BIM requirements and deliverables.

About you

Required skills and experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, suitable for technical and collaborative environments.
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering with 12 to 15+ years of experience in Transportation including Rail multi-disciplinary sectors
  • Proven experience in preparing technical documentation such as feasibility studies, specifications, method statements, design reports, construction drawings, and BOQs.
  • Skilled in project planning, cost estimation, and tracking progress of engineering deliverables within budget and schedule, including familiarity with change control processes.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools, with strong IT literacy and a good understanding of infrastructure and hardware relevant to engineering environments.

Desirable skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience with Bentley Open Buildings Designer (OBD) and related BIM platforms, with the ability to manage and coordinate federated 3D models across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
  • Proficient in setting up and managing clash detection workflows within OBD, including rule-based validation, clash resolution strategies, and model navigation for issue identification.
  • Skilled in using Bentley Review or Navigator for visualizing model conflicts, tracking issues, redlining, and generating coordination reports for design teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle large-scale OBD models, ensuring data consistency and seamless collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards and digital delivery workflows, particularly in the context of building and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with automation and customization tools, such as Generative Components, .NET, or Python, to enhance OBD functionality and streamline modeling tasks.
  • Familiarity with Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms, especially Bentley ProjectWise, iTWIN for managing project data, version control and collaborative workflows.
