Job Title: Polymer Compounding Engineer

The Polymer Compounding Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and running polymer compounding formulations and processes to produce consistent, high-quality granules or sheets for downstream processing applications. The role combines hands-on plant work with formulation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional coordination in production and quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, scale up, and optimize polymer compound formulations using base resins, fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, and other additives to meet target properties.
  • Plan, set up, and operate compounding equipment (internal mixer, twin-screw extruder, high-speed mixers, pelletizers) and define operating windows (temperature profile, screw speed, throughput, feeding sequence).
  • Conduct lab-scale and pilot-scale trials, record process parameters, and evaluate compound properties (MFI, rheology, tensile, elongation, hardness, impact, thermal behavior, dispersion quality).
  • Monitor routine production batches, analyze in-process and final QC data, and implement corrective actions to address process or quality deviations.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation: formulation cards, SOPs, process sheets, control plans, and change-control records.
  • Work closely with QA/QC to define specifications, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria for raw materials and finished compounds.
  • Support root-cause analysis for customer complaints and internal rejections; drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, and waste reduction in compounding.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to ensure high line uptime, proper cleaning procedures, and safe operation of equipment.
  • Evaluate new raw materials and suppliers, conduct comparative trials, and provide techno-commercial recommendations.
