Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator
with 5–6 years of hands-on experience in managing, designing, and optimizing MySQL databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating databases, migrating legacy databases to new schema architectures, and writing efficient SQL queries for both operational and analytical purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage scalable and secure MySQL databases and schemas.
  • Lead and execute the migration of existing databases to new schema designs, ensuring data accuracy and minimal downtime.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views.
  • Analyze and transform legacy data models into efficient, normalized schemas aligned with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with software developers and data analysts to implement database-driven features and reporting solutions.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively tune queries and indexes.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Enforce database security standards including user roles, access controls, and auditing.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database structures, configurations, and migration processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5–6 years
    of professional experience as a MySQL Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in MySQL (versions 5.x and 8.x), database architecture, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience in
    migrating databases
    to new schema structures with data transformation.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Proficient with tools such as
    MySQL Workbench
    ,
    mysqldump
    ,
    Percona Toolkit
    , and other migration utilities.
  • Solid understanding of relational database principles, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines related to database changes and deployment.
  • Familiarity with additional RDBMS like PostgreSQL or MariaDB is a plus.
  • Bachelor's/Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
