About the team :

The mission of Roku's Data Engineering team is to develop a world-class big data platform so that internal and external customers can leverage data to grow their businesses.

Data Engineering works closely with business partners and Engineering teams to collect metrics on existing and new initiatives that are critical to business success.

As Senior Data Engineer Privacy, you will contribute to Rokus Big Data Platforms architecture design, data modelling and ETL to ensure compliance with privacy requirements.

This position is a key role for Roku's business to understand our users while complying with data privacy regulations.

About the role :

As a Sr. Data Engineer focused on Data Privacy, your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain robust data privacy measures within the organization.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with privacy regulations, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to safeguard sensitive information.

Additionally, you will play a key role in enhancing data governance frameworks and educating stakeholders on best practices to uphold the highest standards of data privacy and security.

This role requires hybrid working, you will be based in Bangalore.

What youll be doing :

- Maintain and support Rokus existing data privacy solutions and work with Rokus Engineering teams to implement required data privacy compliance.

- Audit Rokus Data Warehouse and Big Data Platform for compliance with GDPR, CCPA and other data privacy regulations.

- Own requirements, development and quality assurance of Privacy compliance tools that are part of Rokus distributed data processing systems (batch and streaming systems) which includes data virtualization, data retention, and data anonymization,.

- Participate in architecture discussions, influence product roadmap, and take ownership and responsibility over privacy aspects of Rokus Big Data Platform.

- Work with Rokus Trust team to ensure that our Platform is conforming to Roku's Privacy policies.

Were excited if you have :

- More than 5 years experience implementing data privacy solutions that comply with GDPR, CCPA and other data privacy regulations.

- Experience anonymizing and virtualizing sensitive data.

- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, Python is required.

- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language, Java is preferred.

- Experience in big data technologies like HDFS, YARN, Map-Reduce, Hive, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Presto, etc.

- Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure.

- Experience with Data Visualization Applications.

- Looker is a plus.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as developers, analysts, and operations to execute deliverables.

years professional experience as a data or software engineer.

- BS in Computer Science; MS in Computer Science preferred.
