ABAP Programmer

Job Description

An ABAP Programmer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining applications within the SAP ecosystem using the ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) language. This role supports business processes by customizing SAP modules, building reports, and integrating systems to meet organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Development

  • Design and implement custom SAP solutions using ABAP.

  • Develop reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEFW objects).

  • System Integration

  • Create and maintain interfaces using BAPI, RFC, IDOC, and Web Services.

  • Collaborate with functional teams to ensure seamless integration across SAP modules.

  • Debugging & Optimization

  • Troubleshoot and debug ABAP programs to ensure optimal performance.

  • Conduct code reviews and apply best practices for maintainability and scalability.

  • Documentation & Collaboration

  • Prepare technical specifications and maintain documentation for all developments.

  • Work closely with SAP consultants and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Lifecycle Support

  • Participate in SAP upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.

  • Provide ongoing support and enhancements for SAP applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in ABAP Workbench, Data Dictionary, and debugging tools.
  • Experience with SAP modules like MM, SD, FI, or HR.
  • Familiarity with enhancement techniques (User Exits, BADI, BAPI).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Exposure to SAP HANA, Fiori/UI5, and OData services.
  • Understanding of SAP NetWeaver and integration scenarios.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for clean, efficient, and scalable code.
