Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and fit mechanical and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure proper assembly.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, and may be involved in simple fabrication and welding.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and skills

  • Proven experience as a mechanical or hydro-mechanical fitter.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, with a specific emphasis on hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant vocational training or completed apprenticeship is often required..
