Job Description

The MYP Design Teacher will be responsible for delivering an engaging and comprehensive design curriculum to students in grades [specify grades, e.g., 6-10]. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design, technology, and education, with the ability to guide students through the design cycle and promote a hands-on, inquiry-based learning environment. This role involves planning, implementing, and assessing design projects that align with the International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a stimulating MYP Design curriculum that meets IB standards and encourages creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Instruction: Deliver interactive and engaging design lessons that cater to various learning styles and abilities, utilizing a range of instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Project Management: Guide students through the design cycle, from identifying needs and developing design briefs to creating prototypes and evaluating final products.
  • Assessment: Create and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instructional approaches as necessary.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages collaboration, respect, and a passion for design and technology.
  • Student Support: Offer individualized support and guidance to students, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to remain current with best practices in design education and IB philosophy.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student learning and the holistic development of the design program.
