Summary

This role will lead and manage global trademark initiatives ensuring alignment with corporate branding marketing strategies and legal compliance. This role will oversee trademark clearance filing prosecution administration and enforcement activities while develop region-specific strategies and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Trademark Strategy & Governance

  • Support Brand Strategy and Corporate Leadership in trademark law impact on naming standards.
  • Provide Legal guidance on trademark use.
  • Develop and implement region-specific trademark strategies aligned with business goals.

Trademark Clearance

  • Support selection and clearance of new trademarks.
  • Review initial search reports from vendors or conduct preliminary knockout searches.
  • Analyse search results and liaise with brand strategy and business teams regarding budget goods/services descriptions and risk assessments.

Trademark Filing & Prosecution

  • Define filing strategies including country selection and goods/services scope.
  • Instruct external counsel on filings and review submitted documents.
  • Manage office actions and oppositions coordinating with stakeholders and law firms.
  • Oversee region-specific filing and prosecution activities.

Trademark Administration

  • Monitor docket reports for upcoming deadlines and ensure timely renewals.
  • Research trademark usage and consult internal teams to determine renewal necessity.
  • Manage internal systems and coordinate with external counsel.
  • Meet KPIs by providing renewal dates and fee estimates issue instructions before deadlines.

Trademark Enforcement

  • Review internal and external reports of potential infringements.
  • Investigate unauthorized uses and coordinate enforcement actions including cease and desist letters.
  • Support litigation and enforcement efforts through documentation and stakeholder interviews.

Certifications Required

Law Degree or Equivalent from a leading university and/or law school.
