1. Job Summary

The Nursing Incharge is responsible for supervising nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining standards of nursing practice, and coordinating daily operations in assigned wards/units. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.Sc Nursing / GNM (Registered Nurse).
  • Experience: 3–7 years of clinical experience; minimum 1–2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of hospital protocols, emergency care, and nursing standards.
  • Ability to manage teams and handle stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities:-

Patient Care Management

  • Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
  • Monitor patient condition and intervene in emergencies.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient records and nursing notes.
  • Handle patient complaints and provide timely resolutions.

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Supervise and guide nursing staff, caregivers, and ward attendants.
  • Prepare daily duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Conduct training sessions, skill audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Mentor newly joined nurses and ensure proper orientation.

Operational Management

  • Oversee ward/unit activities, cleanliness, and infection control compliance.
  • Ensure availability of equipment, consumables, and emergency supplies.
  • Maintain medication management, including storage, expiry checks, and audits.
  • Coordinate with doctors, departments, and management for smooth operations.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, NABH/JCI standards, and SOPs.
  • Monitor and implement infection control protocols.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and safety drills.
  • Report incidents, medication errors, and near-miss events.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain patient admission/discharge workflows.
  • Manage inventory, requisitions, and monthly stock reports.
  • Prepare reports on staffing, patient census, and unit performance.
  • Support management in planning and implementing new initiatives.
