Paint Shop Quality Head

Qualification:

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Paint Technology, or Chemical Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Paint Shop Quality Management

o Lead and manage quality assurance activities across pretreatment, primer, base coat, and clear coat processes.

o Monitor and control paint quality parameters (DFT, gloss, orange peel, shade matching, adhesion, corrosion resistance, etc.).

o Drive reduction in paint shop rejections, touch-ups, and rework.

• Customer & Audit Handling

o Act as the primary point of contact for customer paint quality issues.

o Lead customer audits, paint line quality reviews, and technical discussions.

o Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring paint defects.

• Process & Standards

o Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific standards.

o Establish paint shop quality procedures, inspection standards, and control plans.

o Monitor paint shop KPIs (FTT, FPY, rework %, complaints, warranty returns).

• Continuous Improvement

o Work on defect prevention initiatives like Zero Paint Defect, Lean Quality, Kaizen.

o Support new model development and paint validation trials.

o Collaborate with R&D, PPC, and Production for paint-related improvements.

• Team Development

o Lead and mentor the paint shop quality engineers and inspectors.

o Train operators and supervisors on paint defect identification and preventio

Skills & Competencies Required:

• Strong knowledge of paint shop processes & paint defect analysis (sagging, blister, dust, chipping, shade mismatch, etc.).

• Hands-on experience with paint quality measurement tools (DFT gauge, gloss meter, color spectrophotometer, adhesion test kits).

• Good understanding of paint chemistry, application methods (robotic/manual), and baking parameters.

• Problem-solving expertise using 8D, Why-Why, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
