Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Data Governance Specialist is a key individual contributor role, responsible for leading enterprise-wide data literacy initiatives that transform data culture across the organization. This role designs, delivers, and governs impactful data literacy programs, enabling employees at all levels to confidently interpret, communicate, and apply data insights in their daily work. The ideal candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on instructional design and delivery expertise to elevate data skills enterprise-wide.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the enterprise-wide data literacy strategy, aligning programs and initiatives with organizational priorities to foster a data-driven culture.

• Design, develop, and implement scalable, engaging data literacy learning solutions targeted at diverse audiences and skill levels.

• Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and define measurable learning objectives.

• Translate complex data and analytics concepts into clear, accessible content and technical documentation.

• Deliver impactful training sessions, workshops, and enablement activities both virtually and in-person.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across functions—including senior leadership, data stewards, and SMEs—to drive program adoption and change management efforts.

• Monitor program performance through defined metrics, gather learner feedback, and continuously enhance content and delivery methods.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Technical Communication, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience (Distance learning not valid) or in lieu of a degree with 7+ years of experience required.

• 5+ years' experience designing and delivering digital/technical training programs and/or technical communications.

• Expertise in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.

• Experience with content creation tools, LMS platforms, and multimedia development.

• Strong ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences.

• Proven project management skills and experience managing multi-phase initiatives.

• Portfolio of instructional or technical writing relevant to data and analytics.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience designing training based on real-world business data scenarios.

• Familiarity with Python, SQL, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, and modern data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.

• Certifications such as CPLP, Certified Technical Writer, or equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Technical Communication, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience (Distance learning not valid) or in lieu of a degree with 7+ years of experience required.

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
