Role & responsibilities

Oracle Apps Database Administration:


• Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases, including the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and related software.


• Monitor database performance and optimize performance tuning for both Oracle databases and Oracle Applications.


• Apply database patches and upgrades as per Oracle's best practices.


• Backup and Recovery:


• Implement and manage database backup and recovery solutions using Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, or other tools.


• Develop and test disaster recovery strategies, ensuring high availability and data integrity.


• Perform regular backups, database cloning, and refreshes of development/test environments.


• Performance Tuning:


• Perform database tuning, SQL query optimization, and capacity planning to ensure efficient operation of Oracle EBS.


• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the Oracle database and applications layer.


• System Maintenance:


• Monitor and maintain database systems, addressing any incidents, alerts, or issues.


• Perform regular housekeeping tasks like database reorganization, table partitioning, and managing storage.


• Manage database users, privileges, and security.


• Oracle Applications Management:


• Administer Oracle EBS, including configuring system components such as Concurrent Manager, Workflow, Forms, and WebLogic servers.


• Apply patches and updates to Oracle EBS, including troubleshooting post-patch issues.


• Manage system integrations and third-party tools interfacing with Oracle EBS.


• Security and Compliance:


• Ensure database security by enforcing access controls, encryption, and monitoring for unauthorized activities.


• Perform audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., SOX, GDPR) and company policies.


• Cloning and Patching:


• Perform regular cloning of production systems for development and testing purposes.


• Apply Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) patches to fix issues, improve performance, or add new features.


• Support and Troubleshooting:


• Provide technical support for Oracle EBS users, troubleshooting issues related to database and application performance.


• Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, network administrators) to resolve system issues.


• Automation and Scripting

Develop scripts and automate repetitive tasks such as database monitoring, backups, patching, and cloning.


• Use tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to automate administrative tasks and generate performance reports.


• Documentation and Reporting:


• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.


• Prepare regular reports on database health, performance, and any incidents for management review.


• Technical Skills:


• Strong knowledge of Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c, etc.).


• Proficient in Oracle E-Business Suite R12 administration.


• Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN.


• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Shell scripting.


• Knowledge of WebLogic, OHS, and other middleware technologies.


• Familiarity with performance tuning and troubleshooting Oracle systems
