Job Title: Trustea Officer

Location: Siliguri

Department: Sustainability / Compliance

Reports To: Factory Manager / Sustainability Head / Director

Experience: 4 –7 years in sustainability, compliance, or tea industry preferred

Qualification: Graduate in Agriculture / Environment Science / Management or related field. Training/Certification in Trustea or similar sustainability standards will be an advantage.

Salary: Negotiable

Job Summary:

The Trustea Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with the Trustea Code and sustainability standards within the tea estate/factory. The role involves coordinating with management, workers, and auditors to maintain certification requirements, improve sustainable practices, and drive continuous improvement in operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Trustea standards across all operations.
  • Maintain updated documentation, records, and reports as required by the Trustea program.
  • Conduct internal audits, assessments, and gap analyses for Trustea compliance.
  • Train and create awareness among workers, staff, and management about Trustea guidelines.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and certification bodies during inspections and audits.
  • Monitor and implement practices related to health & safety, environmental management, and worker welfare.
  • Identify areas of improvement and support the management in developing corrective action plans.
  • Stay updated with changes in Trustea requirements and ensure timely compliance.
  • Support in data collection, monitoring, and reporting to higher management.
  • Act as a key liaison between the estate/factory and Trustea secretariat, buyers, and stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of Trustea Code / sustainability standards in the tea industry.
  • Good understanding of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) practices.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to manage audits, inspections, and compliance processes.
  • Strong record-keeping, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Problem-solving attitude with attention to detail.
