Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, manage, and optimize our database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server environments, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and data security.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot database issues, and perform performance tuning and optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Manage database security, roles, and permissions to ensure data protection and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Perform regular health checks, capacity planning, and maintenance tasks such as index optimization and statistics updates.
  • Design and deploy high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies (e.g., AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Replication, or Clustering).
  • Collaborate with developers to design efficient T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
  • Participate in database design, schema changes, and data modeling activities.
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting tools.
  • Keep up to date with new features in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and related technologies.
  • Document database environments, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Expertise in SQL Server versions 2016/2019/2022.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL scripting and performance tuning.
  • Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Replication, Clustering, and Backup/Restore strategies.
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, or AWS RDS for SQL Server is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data security, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server DBA certification.
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (Azure, AWS).
  • Exposure to DevOps pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL or PostgreSQL/MySQL environments (as secondary skills).
