Senior Back End and AI Developer

Senior Backend Architect / Principal Backend Engineer (AI-Driven SaaS Platform)
We are hiring a Senior Backend Architect / Principal Backend Engineer with 15+ years of backend engineering experience and strong AI/LLM integration expertise to help design, scale, and evolve our AI-driven continuous cybersecurity compliance platform.

This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role. You will own backend architecture decisions, guide platform scalability, and work closely with AI, security, and product teams to build a secure, intelligent, enterprise-grade SaaS platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the core backend architecture for a multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platform

• Design and build high-performance APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and

• Ensure scalability, resilience, security, and performance at enterprise scale

• Drive architectural decisions around microservices, event-driven systems, and async processing

• Review, refactor, and elevate existing codebases to senior-engineering standards

AI & Intelligent Systems

• Design backend services that integrate with LLMs and AI services (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, HuggingFace, etc.)

• Build AI orchestration layers, prompt pipelines, and inference workflows

• Implement vector databases and embedding workflows (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, OpenSearch, etc.)

• Enable AI guardrails, explainability, auditability, and enterprise controls

• Partner with AI engineers on prompt optimization, evaluation, and feedback loops

Data & Platform Engineering

• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data models (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.)

• Build ingestion pipelines from cloud platforms, security tools, and enterprise systems

• Implement caching, search, and analytics layers for real-time insights and dashboards

Cloud, Security & DevOps

• Architect and operate backend services on AWS and/or Azure

• Build secure CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and automated deployments

• Ensure systems align with enterprise security standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI – where applicable)

• Apply secure-by-design principles across APIs, data access, and integrations

Technical Leadership

• Act as a senior technical mentor for engineers across the team

• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions

• Partner with Product, AI, and Security teams to translate requirements into scalable systems

• Influence long-term platform roadmap and technology strategy

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of backend engineering experience building enterprise platforms

• Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and

• Strong experience with microservices, distributed systems, and API-first design

• Proven experience building and scaling SaaS platforms

AI Experience (Must-Have)

• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs / AI services into production systems

• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and AI pipelines

• Understanding of AI system constraints (latency, cost, security, hallucinations)

• Ability to design backend systems that safely operationalize AI

Cloud & DevOps

• Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tooling

Security Mindset

• Experience building systems for regulated or security-sensitive environments

• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection

Nice to Have

• Experience in cybersecurity, risk, or compliance platforms

• Exposure to Kafka or event-driven architectures

• Experience with agentic or autonomous AI workflows

• Startup or scale-up experience
