Core Functions
The Funding Program Officer is responsible for administering, implementing, informing and guiding the process for funding support in various social funding programs within the Department.

The incumbent is also responsible in working with all local and regional bodies to access the funding. Along with assessing the applications to recommend for funding support.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Providing update on the status of the designated Funding Programs.
  • Guide potential funding recipients through project proposal submissions process, guidelines and procedures by providing them the necessary information
  • Review project proposals prior to approval and subsequent to approval oversee all funding reports and correspondence on the implementation from the proponents.
  • Follow-up and monitor the progress of the projects/programs that have received financial support along with their reporting.
  • Provide an overview and guide successful candidates through the deadlines and policy requirements for report submission and work plans.

Interaction/Communication Responsibilities

  • Promote funding program opportunities, project/program highlights, and data information.
  • Communicate calendars and notifications of deadlines for project funding applications to all potential applicants
  • Assist the department with general inquiries regarding the funding objectives, criteria and other related information.
  • Advise communities, partners and organizations on administrative policies and procedures related to the Fund.
  • Work in collaboration with other Cree Nation Government departments on applicable projects.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage database related administered funding program, including data entry for agreement-driven, and report to the Coordinator any anomalies or inconsistencies.

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Compile and submit periodic reports to the Coordinator and Director on the status of projects.
  • Ensure project compliance on final reporting of the funding programs

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Education

  • College diploma in Administration or related field.

Experience

  • One to three years of relevant work experience.

Language

  • Fluency in verbal Cree.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.

Knowledge And Abilities

  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proven ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.

Additional Requirements

  • Typical office setting where there are no unusual physical demands.

The Cree Nation Government may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned requirements if a suitable candidate who is a JBNQA beneficiary accepts to follow a training plan determined by the Cree Nation Government as a condition of employment.
