Java Architect

Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to lead the design and architecture of next-generation healthcare platforms involving IoT biosensors, event-driven systems, and scalable microservices. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth expertise in Java 21+, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and experience with NoSQL databases. Strong architectural thinking, hands-on design capability, and experience in Kafka, MQTT, and cloud-native environments (AWS, Docker) are essential.This role demands someone who can transform complex hospital workflows and IoT data streaming requirements into secure, reliable, and high-performance system designs.

Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & System Design

• Design and architect scalable microservices using Java 21+, Spring Boot, and modern cloud-native practices.
• Lead end-to-end architecture for IoT-enabled healthcare applications, focusing on real-time data ingestion from biosensors and medical devices.
• Create detailed user stories and technical tasks in JIRA, ensuring a clear explanation of requirements, acceptance criteria, architectural decisions, and implementation steps for the engineering teams. Provide thorough documentation to support development, testing, and cross-team collaboration.
• Design event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka for streaming, analytics, and device events.
• Architect IoT communication flows using MQTT, including message routing, device provisioning, and data persistence layers.

Database & Storage Design

• Design and optimize relational data models using PostgreSQL.
• Provide recommendations and build architectures involving NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra when required for performance and scalability.

Cloud & DevOps

• Contribute to deployment architecture using AWS services.
• Work with Docker and container-based deployments; exposure to Kubernetes is a plus.
• Support CI/CD pipeline design and observability setup (logging, monitoring, tracing).

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and guide engineering teams with best practices in coding, design, testing, and microservice governance.
• Conduct architectural reviews, code reviews, and system performance assessments.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data engineers, and QA teams.

Security & Compliance

• Implement secure system designs aligned with healthcare regulations and standards.
• Ensure data protection, encryption, role-based access control, and audit logging.
• Advocate for observability, resiliency, and fault-tolerant microservices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in backend engineering and architecture.
• Strong expertise in Java 21+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and REST API design.
• Hands-on experience architecting microservices for high availability and scale.
• Strong SQL knowledge with PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to NoSQL systems such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Deep understanding of event-driven systems and experience with Apache Kafka.
• Experience integrating and processing IoT device data using MQTT.
• Familiarity with the AWS cloud ecosystem and Docker containerization.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, caching, concurrency, and system performance optimization.
• Ability to create architectural diagrams, documentation, and technical roadmaps.

Good to Have

• Experience in the Healthcare domain and hospital workflows.
• Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with real-time analytics pipelines.
