Job Description

A General Surgeon diagnoses, treats and performs surgical procedures on a wide range of patients across multiple body systems. They evaluate pre-operative patients, operate on conditions such as trauma, disease or congenital anomalies, manage post-operative care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. They ensure patient safety, maintain surgical standards, update medical knowledge and handle emergencies. Their work environment includes hospitals, trauma centres and private clinics, requiring precision, resilience and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive surgical evaluations and plan operative interventions accordingly.
  • Perform major abdominal, vascular, trauma and emergency surgical procedures safely.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care and monitor recovery.
  • Collaborate effectively with anesthesiologists, nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Respond promptly to surgical emergencies and perform life-saving interventions.
  • Maintain accurate surgical records, patient files and follow-up documentation.
  • Ensure sterility, compliance with surgical protocols and infection control procedures.
  • Continuously update knowledge of surgical advances and train junior staff.
Skill & Experience
  • Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and high precision surgical technique.
  • Strong decision-making under pressure and ability to prioritise urgent cases.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, families and clinical teams.
  • In-depth anatomical, physiological and surgical knowledge across multiple systems.
  • Ability to work long hours, shift work and maintain surgical focus.
  • Leadership and mentoring capability to guide junior surgeons and resident team.

Note: Salary is disbursed in the local currency of the country of employment.
