Role Overview

We're looking for curious, hands-on builders who are eager to get deep into Kubernetes, backend systems, and distributed infrastructure. As an SDE Intern at RubixKube, you'll be contributing to real features, solving real problems, and writing code that could ship to production.

You'll work closely with our engineering leads on core areas of our stack—from observability tooling and GitOps workflows to AI agents acting on cluster signals.

This is not a side-task intern role. You'll be in the loop on architecture discussions, design reviews, and production deployments. We treat you like a full engineer.

What You'll Work On
  • Build and maintain core backend services using Golang or Python
  • Contribute to our Kubernetes tooling ecosystem
  • Work with CRDs, controllers, and real-world multi-cluster systems
  • Integrate with Prometheus, Loki, GitHub Actions, Slack, and more
  • Develop internal tools for automation, testing, and observability
  • Collaborate on technical design docs and feature specs
  • Take ownership of well-scoped tasks and projects
What We're Looking For
  • Strong grasp of one backend language (Go preferred; Python also acceptable)
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts (pods, services, deployments)
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Hunger to learn. Ability to ask the right questions and debug thoughtfully
  • Bonus: contributions to open source, experience with Docker, knowledge of cloud infra (AWS/GCP), or hands-on with observability tools
