About the Role: Senior Laravel Developer – Are You the One?

As a Senior Laravel Developer at Houzeo, you're not just writing code — you're architecting the powerful backend engine that drives a fast-scaling real estate tech platform. You will own mission-critical modules, lead development initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and make architectural decisions that shape Houzeo's future.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It

Architect and scale backend systems for high-traffic modules (Seller Dashboard, Agent Dashboard, Admin Panel, Landing Pages)

Ensure best-in-class code quality, maintainability, and security

Optimize MySQL queries, indexing, and caching (Redis) for peak performance

Mentor and guide junior & mid-level developers; conduct detailed code reviews Collaborate closely with frontend teams to ensure seamless integration Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks using profiling tools (AWS CloudWatch)

Drive adoption of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.

Create and maintain complete technical documentation to eliminate knowledge silos

Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of backend development across all Houzeo portals

Improve and refactor existing Laravel code with a focus on performance

Architect and maintain scalable MySQL schemas

Build secure, RESTful APIs for frontend and mobile integrations

Lead debugging, performance tuning, and monitoring activities

Implement strong security measures aligned with OWASP Top 10

Work cross-functionally with Product, QA, Frontend, and DevOps teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

Expert-level proficiency in PHP 8.x & Laravel 10+

Deep understanding of Laravel internals (Service Container, Providers, Middleware)

Strong grasp of OOP, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns (Repository, Factory, Singleton)

Advanced MySQL performance tuning (indexing, partitioning, query optimisation)

Hands-on experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs

Working knowledge of for data flow alignment

Strong experience with Git, Composer, debugging tools

In-depth understanding of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices

Good to Have

Prior leadership or team mentoring experience

AWS exposure (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda)

CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

Familiarity with Docker & containerization

Experience with PHPUnit / Pest (TDD)

Performance engineering experience with Redis, Memcached, RabbitMQ, Horizon
