**Software Tester – Job Description**

**Role Overview:**

A Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality of software applications by identifying bugs, errors, and inconsistencies before the product is released. They design and execute test cases, report defects, and work closely with developers to ensure the final product meets requirements and delivers a smooth user experience.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Understand software requirements and prepare test plans.

* Design, develop, and execute **manual and automated test cases**.

* Identify, log, and track defects using bug-tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.).

* Perform **functional, regression, integration, system, and performance testing**.

* Ensure applications meet **business, security, and quality standards**.

* Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to resolve issues.

* Create and maintain **test documentation** (test cases, test scripts, test reports).

* Work with automation tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, etc.) for faster testing.

* Verify fixes and enhancements after development changes.

* Provide continuous feedback to improve product quality.

**Required Skills & Knowledge:**

* Strong knowledge of **Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)** and **Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)**.

* Experience with **manual testing techniques**.

* Familiarity with **automation tools** (Selenium, QTP, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG).

* Knowledge of **bug tracking and test management tools** (JIRA, TestRail, HP ALM).

* Basic knowledge of **databases (SQL queries)** for backend testing.

* Understanding of **API testing tools** (Postman, SoapUI).

* Familiarity with **Agile/DevOps methodologies**.

**Soft Skills:**

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Attention to detail and critical thinking.

* Good communication and collaboration skills.

* Ability to work under deadlines and multitask.

* Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with new testing tools.

**Work Environment:**

* Works in IT service companies, product firms, or startups.

* Collaborates with developers, project managers, and business analysts.

* May specialize in **manual testing, automation testing, performance testing, or security testing.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹288, ₹1,354,713.14 per year
