Role & responsibilities

  • Develop should-cost models for sheet metal, fabricated assemblies, machined parts, and proprietary components (e.g., chassis frames, brackets, enclosures, suspension parts, etc.).
  • Analyze cost elements such as raw material, conversion cost, tooling, process time, and overheads.
  • Review supplier quotations and validate with internal cost models to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Support design and sourcing teams during NPD (New Product Development) phase with accurate cost estimates.
  • Conduct cost variance analysis between planned, quoted, and actual procurement costs.
  • Provide cost inputs and benchmarks to the sourcing team for supplier negotiations.
  • Support make-or-buy decisions through detailed cost-benefit analysis.
  • Work with global/local supply chain teams to evaluate and optimize sourcing strategies for EV components.
  • Drive cost transparency initiatives across the supplier base.
  • Develop and maintain Zero-Based Costing models for key commodities such as sheet metal assemblies, fabricated structures, machined and proprietary components.
  • Break down costs into raw material, process, tooling, labor, overheads, logistics, and margin to create transparent cost structures.
  • Establish and continuously refine cost models based on actual process data, time studies, and market benchmarks.
  • Support the organization in implementing ZBC principles across supplier negotiations and new sourcing decisions.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: B.Tech/Diploma (Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering); MBA in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
  • Experience: 1218 years of experience in Costing / Should-Cost / Procurement / SCM within Automotive or EV Manufacturing.
