The Role

Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally "figuring it out." This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.

There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn't specific to any one platform, so you'll need a good feel for all of them. And because of this, you'll experience variety and growth at Kyndryl that you won't find anywhere else.

As an MQ Infrastructure Engineer, you will lead and contribute to the design, engineering, and maintenance of MQ infrastructure and systems. This role demands deep technical expertise and thought leadership in middleware technologies, ensuring deployments align with industry best practices. You'll be hands-on in building and maintaining hybrid cloud products and services, driving automation and security, and collaborating across internal, external, and third-party teams. You will also mentor and educate teams on cloud engineering topics, helping to upskill colleagues and support organizational growth

• Lead or contribute to the architectural design of cloud platform middleware technologies and products.

• Build and maintain hybrid products and services across the ecosystem.

• Engage in technical conversations with stakeholders, including senior management and SMEs.

• Drive best-in-class approaches to automation and security.

• Provide education and mentorship on cloud engineering topics.

• Act as an SME in infrastructure engineering or product category.

• Liaise with colleagues up to executive level to deliver a best-in-class hybrid cloud platform.

• Represent solutions through governance and ensure security compliance baselines.

• Contribute to or lead analysis, design, and delivery of infrastructure systems.

• Work in an agile workflow using tools like JIRA.

• Provide L3/L4 support and assist during major incidents when required.

• Operate as a self-starter, managing workload and planning next tasks effectively.

You'll be involved early to offer solutions, help decide whether something can be done, and identify the technical and timeline risks up front. This means dealing with both client expectations and internal challenges – in other words, there are plenty of opportunities to make a difference, and a lot of people will witness your contributions. Required Technical and Professional Experience

• 10+ years MQ experience designing and engineering MQ infrastructure and systems (installation, tuning, patching, problem determination, administration).

• Strong background in MQ integration with other middleware products and features.

• Expertise in technical fault fixing at 3rd/4th line levels.

• Strong knowledge of product and connectivity security (TLS, certificate management, OSCP, CRL).

• Proficiency in UrbanCode Deploy (UCD) and automation development.

• Good scripting skills (development, testing, troubleshooting).

• Deep understanding of MQ High Availability/DR configurations including MQ RDQM and OS-level HA features.

• Strong understanding of MQ Clustering, workload balancing, and failover.

• Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills for MQ environments.

• Knowledge of automation tools (VRA/VRO, Ansible), Chef, and defect management.

• Familiarity with storage/SAN, networking (DHCP/WINS/DNS), vCenter/vSphere, and Active Directory.

• Ability to create and manage roadmaps and product documentation.

• Strong stakeholder and customer management skills.

• Thought leadership in improving, streamlining, and automating processes.

• Experience in product governance and risk mitigation strategies.

• Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaboration tools.
