The Role

As a CNC Operator, you will set up and operate CNC machines (turning and milling/VMC/HMC) to produce high-precision components. Your expertise in CNC machining, ability to interpret technical drawings, and attention to detail will ensure optimal machine performance and high-quality output. You will play a key role in our manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

  • Set up and operate CNC turning and milling machines, including work zero and tool offset setting.
  • Load tools, fixtures, and workpieces with precision; verify correct clamping and alignment.
  • Calibrate machines and verify first-piece readiness before production.

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Perform first-article and in-process inspections to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Use measuring instruments: micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, plug gauges; CMM exposure is an advantage.
  • Record inspection and production data accurately per SOP.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Diagnose and correct issues related to tool wear, chatter, burrs, surface finish, and program errors.
  • Perform routine maintenance, tool presetting, and timely tool changes; escalate machine faults promptly.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • CNC Operation: Proficiency in operating and setting up CNC lathes and milling/VMC/HMC machines.
  • Controller Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Fanuc/Mitsubishi; basic familiarity with Siemens/Haas preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Ability to read engineering drawings; understanding of GD&T.
  • Programming Basics: Ability to edit G/M-code on the shop floor and adjust offsets.
  • Metrology: Strong use of inspection tools and adherence to quality standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Structured approach to root-cause and corrective action.
  • Safety & Discipline: Consistent compliance with safety and documentation requirements.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of hands-on CNC machine operation and on-machine program editing.

Qualification:

  • ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or a relevant field.

Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of machine shop practices and cutting tools.
  • Familiarity with CAM software such as Mastercam is preferred.
  • Proven experience with Fanuc/Mitsubishi controllers.

Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to work in rotational shifts and maintain focus during precision work.
