Senior Architect Draftsman

Job Summary:

The Senior Architect Craftsman is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the technical excellence, buildability, and material integrity of all architectural designs from the concept stage through construction completion. This role acts as the bridge between design vision and flawless execution, combining deep technical knowledge (the 'Craftsman') with project leadership and quality control (the 'Senior Architect').

Key Responsibilities:

I. Technical Mastery & Detailing Excellence (The "Craftsman" Focus)

• Master Detailing: Serve as the final authority on all complex or critical architectural details (e.g., facade systems, custom joinery, weatherproofing) to ensure long-term performance, aesthetic integrity, and constructability.
• Material and System Selection: Research, evaluate, and specify advanced building materials, systems, and technologies, focusing on regional availability (Ahmedabad/Gujarat), sustainability, cost-efficiency, and high-quality finish.
• Technical Quality Control: Lead rigorous internal reviews of Design Development (DD) and Construction Document (CD) packages, focusing on code compliance, constructability, and consistency with firm standards before final release.
• Construction Expertise: Provide expert technical input during the value engineering process, ensuring cost savings do not compromise the technical specification or architectural intent.

II. Project Leadership & Execution (The "Senior Architect" Focus)

• Design-to-Site Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for the Site Engineering and Project Management teams, resolving complex site issues, discrepancies in drawings, and RFI's that require high-level design input.
• Inter-Disciplinary Coordination: Lead coordination meetings with Structural, MEP, and specialized consultants (e.g., Lighting, Landscape) to achieve a fully integrated and conflict-free design solution.
• Code Compliance Authority: Ensure all design and construction documents are in strict adherence to the local Gujarat GDCR (General Development Control Regulations), fire safety norms, and relevant national building codes.
• Vendor/Contractor Technical Vetting: Review and approve shop drawings, material samples, and mock-ups submitted by contractors and vendors, holding them to the highest quality standards.

III. Mentorship & Process Improvement

• Mentorship: Coach and guide junior and mid-level architects and drafters on best practices in detailing, documentation, specification writing, and the technical aspects of project delivery.
• Standard Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the firm's technical standards, detailing library, and BIM/CAD protocols.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch / M.Arch) from a recognized university.
• Experience: Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in architectural design and technical documentation, with a focus on large-scale Residential, Commercial, or Mixed-Use real estate projects.
• Licensure: Licensed Architect (Council of Architecture – COA registration) is preferred.
• Technical Tools: Advanced proficiency in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and strong knowledge of Navisworks for clash reporting.
• Site Experience: Proven on-site construction administration and problem-solving experience is mandatory.
• Local Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and regulatory compliance specific to the Ahmedabad/Gujarat region.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, verbal and written communication, and negotiation skills to manage diverse teams and consultants.
