Senior Electrical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a critical leadership role in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Project Execution phases of our onshore wind turbine projects

Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership

• Lead the development and review of all electrical design packages for onshore wind farm projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and international standards, including IEC/IEEE.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Balance-of-Plant (BoP) electrical engineering, covering medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) systems.
• Manage and execute technical studies, including grid connection studies, power system analysis, load flow, short circuit, stability analysis, and arc flash analysis.
• Oversee the detailed design of key components, such as onshore substations, inter-array and export cable routing, grounding systems, and lightning protection.
• Understanding specifications for major electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and SCADA/control systems.

2. Project Planning, Execution, and Management

• Lead the electrical scope for the entire EPC lifecycle, ensuring effective integration with civil, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for the electrical work stream.
• Provide comprehensive construction oversight and technical support to site teams, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
• Coordinate the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable start-up.

3. Team Coordination and Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (internal and external) and act as the primary technical interface for electrical matters with clients, Independent Engineers (IEs), and regulatory bodies.
• Manage and technically supervise contractors and sub-consultants during design, supply, and installation phases.
• Drive clear and effective communication across all project stakeholders, reporting on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.

4. Risk, Safety, and Compliance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks associated with the electrical design and project execution in the challenging onshore environment.
• Ensure all electrical works adhere to the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), especially during onshore construction activities.
• Champion adherence to all relevant local and international electrical codes and standards.

Required Qualifications and Expertise:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. A Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a substantial portion dedicated to EPC project execution within the onshore wind energy industry.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, onshore locations, and vendor facilities as required.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in high-voltage and medium-voltage power systems for renewable energy.
• Proficiency in designing substations (GIS/AIS), cable systems, and protection and control schemes.
• Familiarity with industry-standard software for electrical analysis (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, Dig SILENT) will be a added advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards relevant to power transmission and distribution.
• Core Competencies:
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering scopes from concept to commissioning.
• Strong contract management, negotiation, and contractor oversight skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and technical report writing abilities.
