Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager / Sr. Manager - Database Administration to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Open Source databases (such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB) and solid working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server. This role involves performance tuning, high availability setup, backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring data security and integrity across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database systems using open-source technologies.
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments as needed.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address issues related to capacity, performance, and reliability.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies, disaster recovery planning, and high availability solutions.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support application requirements and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and access controls.
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in database administration.
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other open-source databases.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above).
  • Experience with replication, clustering, and failover strategies.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and database-as-a-service offerings.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or SQL Profiler.
  • Experience with data modeling and schema design.
