Core Responsibilities

  • Client Assessment & Support: Conducting initial evaluations to identify a client's needs and acting as a support system by providing a confidential space for them to express feelings.
  • Treatment Planning: Developing and implementing personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's challenges and goals.
  • Guidance & Skill Development: Guiding clients in understanding their emotional issues and teaching them practical coping mechanisms, problem-solving techniques, and life skills.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate, confidential records of client sessions and progress.
  • Collaboration: Working with other healthcare providers, agencies, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care and facilitate referrals.
  • Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support during crises and assisting clients with making difficult decisions.

Work EnvironmentsCounselors operate in a variety of settings, including:

  • Schools: Assisting students with academic, social, and personal concerns.
  • Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities: Supporting patients and families dealing with illness and emotional distress.
  • Private Practices: Offering services directly to individuals, couples, and families.
  • Community Centers: Providing support and resources to diverse populations in the community.
  • Workplaces: Offering employee assistance programs and career guidance.
