As a Software Engineer III (Full Stack Developer) at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure & Platform LOB, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust full stack applications, including intuitive user interfaces, scalable backend microservices, and efficient database operations
• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Strong proficiency in building modern, responsive UI applications using React
• Hands-on experience developing backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot
• Expertise in database operations, including writing complex SQL queries and working with relational databases
• Solid experience with JDBC and JPA for data access and persistence
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficient in coding in one or more languages, including Java and JavaScript (React)
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and database querying languages (SQL)
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle along with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native application development

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (React, Redux, TypeScript)
• Exposure to cloud technologies and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with RESTful API design and integration and working in financial services or highly regulated environment
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, Git, Terraform)
