Job Summary:

The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathe machines to produce precision metal components according to technical drawings and specifications. The role requires knowledge of machining processes, quality inspection methods, and adherence to safety and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to perform turning, facing, threading, and other machining operations.

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders.

Load raw materials into machines and monitor the machining process.

Make necessary machine adjustments to control feed, speed, and depth of cut.

Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure they meet quality standards.

Perform routine machine maintenance and report any mechanical issues.

Document production runs, part counts, and machine settings.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Follow all safety protocols and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:

High school diploma or technical/vocational training in machining (preferred).

Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines (1–3 years minimum).

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and machining symbols.

Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Basic understanding of CNC programming (G-code/M-code) is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.

Willingness to work in a shift-based or fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in CNC machining or mechanical trades.

Experience with specific CNC lathe brands (e.g., Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma).

Knowledge of basic troubleshooting and machine diagnostics.
