Location: Bangalore

Role Overview

Network & Load Balancer Engineer L2 is responsible for transitioning customer network and load-balancing environments into Managed Support and delivering seamless BAU operations. This role requires hands-on experience in Cisco and Meraki networking (switching & wireless), F5 load balancers, and Azure Load Balancer, along with secondary knowledge of network security technologies. The engineer will collaborate closely with customers, project teams, and operations to ensure stable, secure, and optimized network performance.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Load Balancer (Primary Scope):

  • Lead technical onboarding and environment transition for network and load-balancer infrastructures.
  • Provide L2 operational support for Cisco and Meraki networks (switching & wireless).
  • Support F5 load balancers including VIPs, pools, profiles, SSL, and traffic management.
  • Manage Azure Load Balancer (Basic/Standard), Application Gateway fundamentals, and related cloud connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot network and load-balancer incidents, implement changes, and conduct health assessments.
  • Perform configuration changes, firmware updates, network optimization, and incident troubleshooting.
  • Work with L3/Architecture teams on escalations or complex issues.
  • Assist in maintaining high availability and traffic distribution systems across environments.
  • Maintain transition documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and operational readiness artifacts.

Transition Phase Responsibilities:

  • Conduct network and load-balancer discovery, documentation review, and readiness assessments.
  • Validate existing configurations: switching, wireless, routing, VIPs, profiles, SSL certs, and cloud load-balancer setups.
  • Identify risks, gaps, compliance issues, and required remediation for Managed Support acceptance.
  • Prepare onboarding documentation including topology diagrams, device inventory, runbooks, and SOPs.
  • Coordinate with customers, service managers, and operations teams for smooth cutover to BAU.
  • Ensure all devices follow best practices before moving to steady-state operations.

BAU Support Responsibilities:

  • Manage L2 incidents, requests, and changes for network and load-balancer infrastructure.
  • Monitor device health, traffic distribution, wireless performance, and network stability.
  • Implement standard changes (VLANs, routing, Wi-Fi configs, VIP updates, SSL renewals).
  • Conduct periodic performance checks, firmware upgrades, and system optimization.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for supported network and load-balancer environments.
  • Support periodic DR tests, failover validations, and compliance audits.

Technical Expertise

Primary Skills:

  • Cisco Networking (Switching & Routing): VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, routing fundamentals, ACLs.
  • Meraki Switches & Wi-Fi: Dashboard management, SSID configs, RF tuning, policy configuration, site deployments.
  • F5 Load Balancer: VIPs, pools, iRules (basic understanding), SSL certs, LTM profiles, traffic management.
  • Azure Load Balancer: Backend pools, health probes, rules, NAT rules, and application traffic distribution.
  • Strong troubleshooting for network performance, connectivity, and load-balancer issues.

Secondary Skills

  • Basic understanding of firewalls (Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto).
  • Network security concepts: ACLs, NAT, IPSec fundamentals.
  • DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Syslog, and monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to SD-WAN or cloud networking (optional).

Process Skills:

  • Strong understanding of ITIL-based Service Transition and BAU operations.
  • Ability to perform structured root cause analysis and risk assessments.
  • Experience in change management, incident management, and problem management.
  • Capable of creating precise documentation, SOPs, and process workflows.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Excellent communication and customer-facing interaction skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in configurations.
  • Ownership and accountability in delivering outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Time management and ability to handle multiple customers or tasks efficiently.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking and load-balancing operations.
  • Certifications preferred:

  • CCNA / CCNP

  • F5-CA / F5-CTS (optional but advantageous)
  • Meraki CMNA/CMNP
  • Azure Fundamentals / Azure Network Engineer Associate
