Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine visual and dimensional inspections of in-house fabricated items to ensure compliance with drawing and quality standards.
  • Lead the WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) approval process as per ASME, AWS, and EN standards.
  • Manage welder qualification as per international codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with in-house and outsourced NDT personnel for daily testing activities including UT, MPI, and RT.
  • Conduct on-site fabrication inspections at supplier locations to ensure adherence to quality, welding, and dimensional standards.
  • Facilitate and support customer inspections by ensuring readiness and complete documentation.
  • Ensure robust documentation and traceability of all inspection activities, WPS records, and welder certifications.

Key Deliverables

  • Zero Defects at the next critical stage Crane Assembly post fabrication.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of fabrication issues at both in-house and supplier sites.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Deep technical understanding of GMAW (MIG/MAG) and SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) processes.
  • Proficiency in preparing, interpreting, and evaluating WPS and Welder Qualifications.
  • Hands-on experience in Non-Destructive Testing (UT, MPI, RT) coordination and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with supplier quality audits and inspections in fabrication-heavy environments.
  • Strong documentation and record-management skills.
  • Experience in managing or supporting third-party and customer inspections is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent is desirable.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in fabrication quality assurance, including supplier-side inspection exposure.
