Position : Onco Anaesthesiologist

Location : Patel Nagar, Dehradun

An Onco-Anesthesiologist will help our team in providing anesthesia and critical care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. He/she will play a crucial role in optimizing patients' health before, during and after these procedures, managing pain, and addressing any complications that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-operative Optimization:

Assessing patients' overall health, identifying and managing pre-existing conditions, and optimizing their fitness for surgery or other cancer treatments.

  • Intra-operative Care:

Administering anesthesia, closely monitoring vital signs, and managing any immediate complications that may arise during procedures.

  • Post-operative Care:

Managing pain, nausea, and other side effects, ensuring patients are comfortable and stable as they recover.

  • Critical Care Management:

Providing intensive care for critically ill patients, including those with complications from cancer, chemotherapy, or infections.

  • Pain Management:

Managing both acute and chronic pain associated with cancer and its treatment, using various techniques such as regional blocks, epidurals, and patient-controlled analgesia.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

Working closely with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists as part of a comprehensive cancer care team.

  • Research and Education:

Participating in research related to onco-anesthesia and pain management, and contributing to the education of other healthcare professionals.

Subspecialties within Onco-Anesthesia:

  • Surgical Oncology:

Anesthesia for various cancer surgeries (e.g., head and neck, breast, thoracic, gastrointestinal, colorectal, orthopedic, pediatric).

  • Robotic Surgery:

Anesthesia for robot-assisted cancer surgeries (e.g., urology, gynecology, colorectal).

  • Pain and Palliative Care:

Managing acute and chronic pain, including palliative care for patients with advanced cancer.

  • Critical Care:

Providing intensive care for oncology patients with complications.

In essence, the Onco-Anesthesiologist shall play a vital role with us in ensuring the safety and well-being of cancer patients throughout their treatment journey, offering specialized care and expertise in anesthesia, pain management and critical care.

Required qualifications :-

1.) MBBS + MD/DNB Anaesthesia

2.) DM in Onco- Anaesthesia or Fellowship training in Onco-Anesthesia.

3.) Fellowships may focus on specific areas like Onco- and Robotic Anesthesia.
