A store manager supervises material receiving, storage, and dispatch processes to ensure adequate raw materials and finished goods are available for production, supports inventory management with daily counts and record-keeping, maintains safety and housekeeping in the stock area, and collaborates with suppliers and internal departments to optimize stock levels and meet production targets.

Key responsibilities also include managing a team, ensuring material quality, enforcing safety regulations, and using computerized systems for stock control. Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Oversee the receiving, recording, and issuing of raw materials.
  • Stock Control: Maintain accurate inward and outward registers, conduct daily/weekly stock counts, and monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Material Handling: Ensure proper storage, organization, and issuance of materials using proper systems.
  • Supplier Coordination: Arrange quotations, negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate with them for timely deliveries.
  • Quality Assurance: Send materials for inspection, check materials against invoices, and focus on quality control for all incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Safety and Housekeeping: Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the store area and enforce relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Team Management: Supervise, train, and motivate the store team to ensure efficient operations and adherence to procedures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain computerized stock records and other essential documentation for efficient stock control and reporting.
  • Reporting: Report on stock levels, issues, and performance to upper management.
