Quality Engineer – Control system

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes for control system design, integration, and commissioning.
  • Review engineering documentation, control logic, system architecture, and software configurations for compliance with standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and reliability studies for control system components.
  • Plan and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and validation protocols.
  • Establish and enforce quality KPIs, inspection checklists, and test procedures for PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and safety instrumented systems.
  • Audit suppliers, integrators, and contractors to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
  • Manage nonconformances, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support configuration management, version control, and documentation accuracy for automation software and hardware.
  • Collaborate with design, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure robust lifecycle quality governance.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISA standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Train engineering and project teams on control system quality practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control Systems, or related engineering discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in control system engineering, quality assurance, or automation project execution.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with ISO, IEC, or ISA quality and safety standards is preferable but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, risk assessments, and quality tools such as Six Sigma, FMEA, or SPC.
  • Hands-on experience in FAT, SAT, and system commissioning.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, energy, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for control systems (IEC 62443, NIST).
  • Quality management in control and automation projects.
  • System testing and validation.
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
