We are seeking skilled Language Editors to join our freelance editing team. The role involves improving manuscripts for grammar, readability, and clarity, while strictly following specific language editing guidelines. This is a specialized role requiring prior editing experience and a strong command over English grammar and style.

Responsibilities

  • Edit academic and technical manuscripts for:
  • Grammar, tense consistency, punctuation, and spelling.
  • US spelling conventions with serial comma.
  • Correct article usage, prepositions, and subject–verb agreement.
  • Sentence readability and clarity.
  • Apply capitalization rules.
  • Follow hyphenation rules for units, compound modifiers, and prefixes.
  • Ensure correct usage of technical abbreviations and symbols.
  • Reword/rephrase only when necessary; avoid unnecessary edits.
  • Insert author queries where meaning is unclear.
  • Maintain LaTeX coding, equations, and figures (do not alter them).
  • Format scientific names in italics where required.
  • Deliver assignments within the given deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in language editing, copyediting, or academic editing.
  • Bachelor's/Master's in English, Science or Communications
  • Excellent command of English grammar and usage.
  • Familiarity with academic/technical writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Contractual / Temporary

Contract length: 1 month

Pay: ₹12, ₹18,000.00 per month
