Responsibilities:



Data entry jobs typically involve entering, verifying, and editing data into electronic systems. Data entry responsibilities include: 
  • Data preparation: Sorting, preparing, and organizing data and files for entry 
     
  • Data entry: Accurately typing data into spreadsheets or databases 
     
  • Data quality: Reviewing data for errors, assessing data for deficiencies, and identifying incompatibilities between data sources 
     
  • Data maintenance: Updating and maintaining databases, eliminating duplicate data, and managing and archiving files 
     
  • Data reporting: Creating reports and generating data summaries for management review 
     
  • Data confidentiality: Maintaining digital and physical filing systems to ensure data confidentiality 
     
  • Data deadlines: Meeting data entry deadlines in a timely and efficient manner 
     
  • Data inquiries: Responding to data inquiries from other departments or clients 
     
  • Data backups: Backing up data as per the contingency plan 
     


Data entry jobs require strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to completing tasks accurately. Data entry clerks are also expected to have a reasonably high word-per-minute typing speed and accuracy.
