Roles & Responsibility:

  • Medication Management: Selecting appropriate medications and determining dosages based on clinical guidelines and accordingly dispensing the medicines to patients.
  • Monitoring Drug Therapy: Overseeing patient responses to medications.
  • Patient Counselling: Educating patients and their families about medication usage, side effects, and adherence.
  • Inventory Control: Managing medication supplies and collaborating with suppliers to ensure availability.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and reviews of medication use to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in pharmaceutical care

Skills Required

  • Clinical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical care principles.

  • Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.

  • Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to assess patient needs and make informed decisions regarding medication therapy.

  • Attention to Detail:

  • Meticulous in verifying prescriptions, dosages, and potential drug interactions.

  • Teamwork:

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure:

  • Valid pharmacy license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.

  • Experience:

  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred but not always required.
