The Server Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining servers and network infrastructure that support retail billing systems, POS applications, inventory management, and corporate operations. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in 
Linux/Red Hat server environments
 and a good understanding of retail IT systems and uptime requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Server & System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain 
    Linux/Red Hat servers
     used for POS backend systems, ERP applications, and databases.

  • Monitor server performance, uptime, and logs; apply security patches and updates.

  • Manage 
    user access, permissions, and authentication
     (Active Directory / LDAP).

  • Maintain local and remote 
    file servers, print servers, and application servers
    .

  • Implement 
    data backup and disaster recovery
     policies for HO and stores.

Retail Infrastructure Support:

  • Coordinate to ensure 
    POS systems, billing servers,
     are functioning properly.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues from remote store locations via remote desktop or VPN.

  • Support server and network setup during 
    new store openings
     or branch expansions.

Security & Monitoring:

  • Manage 
    firewall policies
    , antivirus updates, and access control measures.

  • Monitor systems using tools like 
    Nagios, Zabbix, or Grafana
     for performance and uptime alerts.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection and company IT policies.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain updated documentation of system configurations, credentials, licenses, and IP inventories.

  • Prepare monthly reports on server health, downtime, and preventive maintenance activities.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with 
    Linux (Red Hat / CentOS / Ubuntu Server)
    .

  • Good knowledge of 
    Apache/Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and Samba/NFS
    .

  • Familiarity with 
    virtualization (KVM, VMware)
     and basic networking concepts (VLAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN).

  • Experience managing retail or distributed environments preferred.

Certifications:

- 
RHCSA / RHCE
 (Red Hat Certified System Administrator / Engineer) preferred.

- CompTIA Server+ or Network+ is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.

- 
1–3 years of experience
 in Linux server administration or IT infrastructure support (preferably in a retail or branch-based environment).
