Role Overview

AutomationEdge is seeking an experienced EPIC Integration Consultant to lead the design and implementation of referral management integrations with EPIC EHR portals.

This role requires strong hands-on expertise in EPIC FHIR APIs, healthcare interoperability standards, and the ability to guide customers through pilot deployments and production rollouts.

The consultant will play a key role in architecting secure integrations, managing sandbox-to-production transitions, and enabling AutomationEdge applications to integrate seamlessly with EPIC ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Architecture & Design

  • Design secure, scalable EPIC FHIR API-based integration architectures for reading and managing referral data from EPIC hospital portals.
  • Define integration patterns with a strong focus on sandbox-to-production migration strategies.

EPIC FHIR API Implementation

  • Implement EPIC FHIR API integrations using SMART on FHIR and OAuth 2.0 authentication frameworks.
  • Ensure secure, compliant, and reliable exchange of patient referral data.

Sandbox & Production Environment Management

  • Set up and manage EPIC sandbox environments for integration development and testing.
  • Oversee secure promotion of applications from sandbox to production, including configuration validation, access control, and security hardening.

Customer Pilot & Deployment Support

  • Guide customers on how to use EPIC APIs and applications in real-world scenarios during pilot deployments.
  • Provide technical inputs and best practices for customer onboarding and initial rollout.

EPIC App Registration & Compliance

  • Handle technical requirements for registering AutomationEdge applications in the EPIC App Orchard (Showroom).
  • Ensure compliance with EPIC certification, security, and documentation standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience with EPIC EHR integrations, specifically EPIC FHIR APIs.
  • Hands-on expertise with SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Experience working with EPIC sandbox and production environments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data workflows, especially referral management systems.
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into customer-facing use cases.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience registering apps in EPIC App Orchard.
  • Exposure to healthcare compliance and security standards (HIPAA, data privacy).
  • Experience supporting customer pilots and enterprise-scale deployments.
